Santo Bartolomeo Quadri (born December 2, 1919 in Ossanesga , Bergamo Province , Italy , † October 17, 2008 in Bergamo , Italy) was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Modena .

Life

Santo Bartolomeo Quadri studied theology , canon law and social sciences . He was ordained a priest on March 6, 1943. In 1955, he became deputy general director of the Catholic Workers' Movement in Italy ACLI - Associazioni Cristiane Lavoratori Italiani . In 1959 he became a member of the preparatory committee of the Second Vatican Council for the decree Apostolicam actuositatem , in 1962 a member of the committee.

He was by Pope Paul VI. Appointed titular bishop of Villa Nova in 1964 and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Pinerolo . He was ordained bishop on May 7, 1964 by Carlo Cardinal Confalonieri . Co -consecrators were Archbishop Pietro Sigismondi , Secretary of the Sacra Congregatio de Propaganda Fide , and Bishop Luigi Civardi . In 1983 he was appointed apostolic administrator in Pinerolo. In 1973 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia . In 1983 Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Modena-Nonantola.

His resignation was granted in 1996 by John Paul II.

He was buried in Modena Cathedral.

Act

Santo Bartolomeo Quadri was instrumental in drafting the Gaudium et Spes Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World and the Decree Apostolicam actuositatem of the Second Vatican Council .

Bishop Quadri represented the Commission for Pastoral Care of Family and Work in the Italian Bishops' Conference .
