The Tscherttegasse station is an above-ground station of the Vienna underground on the U6 line in the 12th district of Meidling . It was opened on April 15, 1995 as part of the extension of the U6 to Siebenhirten . The express tram line 64 of the Viennese tram had already used the platform and access systems before . This results in the small track spacing, which is why there are none of the elevated cable ducts between the tracks that are otherwise common along the entire route. To the north of the station there is a track connection from the U6 to the Badner Bahn . Before the expansion to the subway, the trains on line 64 ran on this double-track connection at the time.
In the architecture of all the newly built stations of the U6 south branch, a new deformation technology of trapezoidal aluminum sheet was used, which allowed the construction of variously shaped arches. The combination with blue glazed concrete and glass give the station a signal effect. The lift towers rounded at the top are particularly striking. The construction comes from Johann Georg Gsteu .
The station is at the western end of Tscherttegasse, east of the Altmannsdorf cemetery and the Meidling cable works . To the south-west, in the immediate vicinity, is the Schöpfwerk station of the Vienna – Baden local railway . The Donauländebahn and the Pottendorfer line run north of the Tscherttegasse station .
