The subway in Daegu opened in 1997 and now has three lines . Construction began in 1992.

Lines
Line 1 was opened in 1997/98 and is 25.9 kilometers long and has 29 stations, each of which has a platform length of 149 m. In May 2002 the route was extended by 0.7 km to the southwest. The stations and vehicles are equipped with air conditioning . On 18 February 2003 sparked the mentally ill in the station Jungangno a fire in which at least 198 people died.

The construction of line 2 began when line 1 started operating. The 28-kilometer route was completed in October 2005. A connection between the two lines exists at the Banwoldang station in the city center.
Both subway lines operate from 5:30 a.m. to midnight. 6-car trains are used, 34 trains on Line 1 and 30 trains on Line 2. The train sequence is between 5 minutes during rush hour and 7 minutes.
A third line was built as an Alwegbahn , had been in trial operation since October 2014 and started regular operation in April 2015.
