The Festhalle / Messe underground station is a station on the Frankfurt underground network .
The station was put into operation in 2001 after ten years of construction. The U4 line goes from here. Entrances to the underground station are located directly at the Festhalle at Messe Frankfurt . The exhibition tower also has a separate entrance. The station is divided into two levels. The station is on the D-line of the U-Bahn, which runs from the main train station to Bockenheimer Warte . The trams from lines 16 and 17 stop at the above-ground station .
Construction
This underground station was designed by the G. Balser architectural association. The 8 m high hall resembles an exhibition hall. The wall behind the track in the direction of Bockenheimer Warte is structured by large areas of color (idea: Gerhard Lienemeyer) that allude to the colorful flags that hang in front of the entrance to the fair. Two 12 m high glass cones, the shape of which was probably inspired by the top of the exhibition tower, serve as entrances and allow daylight to enter. An elevator takes you from the southern cone directly to the platform.
