The submarine bunker Kilian on the grounds of the Kriegsmarinewerft Kiel (from 1943: Howaldtswerke Kiel ) was built between 1941 and 1943 on the north bank of the Schwentine estuary in Kiel-Dietrichsdorf with the use of forced labor and put into operation as a submarine bunker .

In 1945 most of the bunker was blown up. The last remnants were used in 2001 as filler material for the extension area of ​​the Ostuferhafen , which is part of the Kiel commercial port. Among other things, there is the pier for the ferry to Memel ( Lithuanian : Klaipėda ) of the Lithuanian shipping company AB DFDS LISCO . Today there are no more visible parts of the bunker.
