The submarine bunker Nordsee III was a German submarine bunker in the south port of the island of Helgoland .

It had a length of 156 m and a width of 94 m and had three boxes with a water width of 22 m. Its construction was completed at the end of 1941.

It was called by submarines in the period from January 1942 to March 1942. These were the boats U 116 , U 154 , U 155 , U 158 , U 160 , U 162 , U 209 , U 252 , U 334 , U 353 , U 403 , U 404 , U 406 , U 437 , U 455 , U 456 , U 457 , U 503 , U 504 , U 505 , U 507 , U 563 , U 587 , U 588 , U 589 and U 656 , after that only from clearing boats and speedboats . In an attack with remote-controlled bombs from Operation Aphrodite in August 1944, the Allies failed to strike the bunker. After a two-year break, U 245 entered the bunker in mid-January 1945. At the beginning of 1945 the bunker was designated as the second base for the small seal submarines . On April 30, 1945, U 143 , U 145 , U 149 and U 150 entered the bunker. After the surrender, U 368 , U 720 and U 1230 ran into the bunker and were taken over by the British.

The bunker was finally blown up by the Allies in 1947 .
