Armament

The Type XVIII submarine class were two submarines with the designations U 796 and U 797 , which were to be built by Deutsche Werke AG .

Work began on January 4, 1943. On December 14, 1943, the two boats were relocated to the Germania shipyard for completion , but were never completed in favor of the similarly constructed Type XXI submarines .
