U-FLY Alliance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

U-FLY Alliance ( simplified Chinese : 优 行 联盟; traditional Chinese : 優 行 聯盟) is the world's first airline alliance of low-cost carriers , which was established in January 2016 between the airlines HK Express , Lucky Air , Urumqi Air and China West Air Founded.

All four founding airlines are affiliated with the HNA Group , with a focus on Hong Kong , mainland China and Southeast Asia . The South Korean low-cost carrier Eastar Jet joined the alliance on July 27, 2016.

history

U-FLY Alliance was presented at a press conference in Hong Kong on January 18, 2016. The founding members belong to the Chinese conglomerate HNA Group . The alliance is not externally connected to the group and is also open to outside airlines.

The alliance was set up for various reasons. Due to the different regulations of the Chinese provinces, a merger of airlines from different regions is difficult. The alliance enables smaller airlines to expand without becoming a cross-provincial company. Another reason for forming alliances is the airlines' local identity. The regions of the respective locations are then more willing to stand up for the company.

The alliance wants to have access to a fleet of over 218 aircraft by 2020. 60 aircraft each come from Lucky Air and West Air out of 60. 50 aircraft are owned by HK Express , the remaining 48 belong to Urumqi Air .

In 2017, U-Fly Alliance was able to offer a capacity of 44 million seats with 129 aircraft
