UNCA Excellence in Journalism Award

The UNCA Excellence in Journalism Awards are presented in several categories by the United Nations Correspondents Association . The tradition that began in 1995 has expanded continuously in the following years.

Formations

  • The Elizabeth Neuffer Memorial Prize was awarded in memory of the journalist Elizabeth Neuffer from the daily newspaper Boston Globe , who perished in 2003 as a war correspondent in the Iraq war. The award recognizes outstanding reports on the work of the United Nations (UN) that have appeared in the print media . It is endowed with $ 10,000. The Boston Globe publisher is a co- sponsor .
  • The Ricardo Ortega Memorial Prize was awarded in honor of the Spanish reporter Ricardo Ortega , who was killed in the course of reporting on the bloody unrest in Haiti in 2004. The $ 10,000 prize, sponsored by the Spanish television company Antena 3 , honors excellent UN reports in the audiovisual media.
  • The United Nations Foundation Prize is awarded for outstanding reports on humanitarian and development projects. The award, presented by the United Nations Foundation, is endowed with $ 10,000.
  • The Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Prize was founded in 2000 to honor excellent political cartoonists.
