Ranan Lurie, 1961

Ranan R. Lurie (* 1932 ) is an American cartoonist and journalist who is well known in the English-speaking world , a member of the United Nations Correspondents Association and publisher of the renowned Cartoon News magazine.

Life

The former Israeli moved to the USA as early as the 1960s . He has been a naturalized US citizen since 1974 .

Lurie lives and works in Greenwich , Connecticut, USA . He is married and the father of the film director Rod Lurie . He is also a member of the intelligentsia association Mensa .

Awards

As a journalist, Ranan Lurie was appointed Senior Associate at the US Center for Strategic and International Studies . Within the United Nations he was awarded membership in the United Nations Correspondents Association .

The Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Prize , founded in 2000 by the United Nations Correspondents Association, was named after him. It is part of the UNCA Excellence in Journalism Awards .
