The UNIX System III from AT & T in 1982 was the first commercial edition of Unix -Betriebssystems. It was developed by the Computer Research Group (CRG) at AT&T and maintained by the Unix Systems Group (USG). UNIX System III was a union of the former AT&T Unices: PWB / UNIX 2.0, CB UNIX 3.0, UNIX / TS 3.0.1 and UNIX / 32V. Just two years later the successor, the UNIX System V , came onto the market.
Supported hardware
There were mini computer type DEC PDP-11 and VAX supported.
Innovations
The new features included named pipes ( named pipes ), and the system call and command uname . Some improvements to version 7 from outside organizations have also been incorporated.
