The United Nations Mission of Observers in Tajikistan (abbreviated UNMOT ), the United Nations observer mission in Tajikistan , a UN peacekeeping mission , was based on UN resolution 968 of December 16, 1994 and was in from December 4, 1994 to May 15, 2000 Tajikistan deployed.
The aim of the UN mandate was to monitor the ceasefire and the peace agreement between the government of Tajikistan and the "United Tajik Opposition". The head of the mission was the Romanian Liviu Bota until March 1995 , then the Croatian Darko Silovic until May 1996 .
