USS Jackson (LCS 6) is a Littoral Combat Ship of the United States Navy and belongs Independence class at. She is the first ship in the US Navy to be named after Jackson , the capital of Mississippi .

history

On August 1, 2011, construction of the individual modules for the coastal combat ship began at Austal's Modular Manufacturing Shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. The keel-laying at the shipyard took place on October 18, 2012. The ship was christened in October 2011.
