The Mk 110 , also 57mm Mk 110 Mod 0 Naval Gun System , is a modern naval gun with a caliber of 57 mm. It is produced by BAE Systems Bofors .
description
The Mk 110 Mod 0 gun is based on the Bofors 57 mm MK-3 naval gun and differs only slightly from it. It can be used on ships with a displacement of 150 tonnes or more and only requires a small deck opening and little space below deck. To reduce the radar signature, it is possible to adapt various weather protection panels.
The gun can be used against a wide range of possible enemy targets, including difficult-to-combat targets such as anti-ship missiles . Each projectile has a programmable detonator which has up to six possible operating modes: impact (against small, unarmored surface targets), delayed (against larger, armored surface targets) and approach (three modes; against air targets). The system has a two-way ammunition feeder so that two types of ammunition can be used without delay depending on the situation. The muzzle velocity of the ammunition by means of a small Doppler - radar detected, which is located directly above the gun barrel.
