The USS Washington (BB-47) was an unfinished battleship of Colorado class of US Navy and became American US after the State of Washington named.

Your keel was laid on June 30, 1919 in Camden ( New Jersey ) at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation . It was launched on September 1, 1921 . Godmother was Miss Jean Summers, daughter of Congressman John W. Summers , who represented Washington State.

Due to the arms limitation of the Washington Fleet Agreement , the Washington was no longer allowed to be finished and work on the ship, which was already 75.9% finished, had to be stopped.

In order to gain knowledge for a possible improvement of their three sister ships, the unfinished ship's torso was used as a target for weapon tests. It sank due to a fire on November 26, 1924 .
