U 1195 was a German class VII C submarine. The keel was laid on February 6, 1943. On November 4, 1943, the submarine went into service. On its first patrol, the submarine sank the converted luxury liner SS Cuba on April 6, 1945 . The submarine was sunk in the English Channel on April 7, 1945 by the British destroyer HMS Watchman with depth charges. 32 soldiers were killed, 18 survived.
In 2004 the submarine was visited by US engineer Peter Robbins.
