U 1005 was a German type VII C submarine , a so-called "Atlantic boat ", which was used by the navy during World War II .
Technical specifications
A Type VII C-boat, driven by two diesel engines, reached a speed of 17 knots when traveling above water , had a maximum range of 6500 nm and could make 7.8 knots under water with the help of the two electric motors, with a maximum range of 80 nm .

Commitment and history
The submarine belonged from December 30, 1943 to January 31, 1945 as a training boat for the 31st U-Flotilla (Hamburg) and was used as a front boat in the 11th U-Flotilla (Bergen) from February 1, 1945.
1st patrol - 8 February to 20 March 1945, area of operations: North Atlantic, waters around England; U 1005 leaves Kiel on February 8, 1945 and arrives in Horten on February 14, 1945. Other trips are:
