history
The 31st U-Flotilla was founded in September 1943 under the command of Captain Bruno Mahn, a veteran of the First World War as a training flotilla in Hamburg . Mahn commanded the type UB-II boat SM UB 21 during the First World War and the former British Grampus boat UB and the former Dutch type O-21 boat UD-5 during the Second World War .
