The Uai Bobo Caves are located near Venilale in East Timor

Uai Bobo are two caves in East Timor . They are located near the town of Venilale ( Venilale administrative office , Baucau municipality ).

In Uai Bobo 1 and Uai Bobo 2 archaeological finds were made that were dated to an age of up to 13,420 ± 520 years BP . These included endemic fauna , stone artifacts from the Pleistocene and Holocene, and pottery and remains of domestic animals from around 4000 years BP. Some of the endemic species have become extinct in Timor over the past thousand years .

In the Neolithic layers there are numerous remains of seashells, while they are missing in the layers from the Metal Age.
