The Uccea Valley ( Slovenian dolina Učje ) is a mountain valley in the western Julian Alps in Friuli . It runs in a west-east direction and is formed by the river Rio Uccea , which rises on the Italian side at Monte Musi , after 8 km just east of the place Uccea crosses the border to Slovenia . From there the river and valley bear the Slovenian name Učja , it flows through a narrow gorge and then flows into the Soča (Isonzo) at Žaga (municipality of Bovec ) , which flows southwards back to Italy. A road leads from the Ucceatal over the Carnizzasattel ( Sella Carnizza , 1086 m) into the Resia valley .

The Uccea Valley is the wettest area in Italy (in 1960 6,103 mm were measured here).
