history
The grocery retail company was founded as a public company in 1975. A year later, a collaboration with the Italian department store chain Standa took place . The IPO of Uchumi at the Nairobi Stock Exchange took place 1,992th In the first years of the new millennium, the company found itself in economic difficulties, which ended with the IPO in 2006. In January 2011, the Kenya Capital Markets Authority (KCMA) issued a positive report on the company with the result that Uchumi was again listed on the NSE. Uchumi is one of the largest trading companies in East Africa , alongside the market leader Nakumatt , Tuskys, Ukwala and Naivas .
