The Uckermärker Milch GmbH has processed a company that every day up to 1,000,000 kg of raw milk to curd, butter and dried milk powder. The sales channels include food retailers / discounters, dairy products, the food industry and wholesalers.
history
In 1889 a dairy cooperative was founded in Prenzlau, which later became Uckermärker Milch GmbH. The company has existed under its current name since 1990. One year later, on June 27, 1991, Uckermärker Milch GmbH moved into its headquarters in Brüssower Allee. In 1992 a new company was founded. The main shareholders were Meierei-Zentrale GmbH Berlin and Milchhof Eiskrem GmbH + Co KG Mettmann. As part of the restructuring, the dairy created the technical requirements for ice cream production in part of the new building. At the end of 1993, quark production was added and the quark range was expanded in the following years. In 2000, the milk and ice cream business areas were separated. Uckermärker Milch GmbH was melted into Tuffi Campina Emzett; Nestlé took over the ice cream division. Since January 1, 2009, the company has been using its old name Uckermärker Milch GmbH again. In 2014 the company celebrates its 125th anniversary.
In September 2014, the Swiss dairy group Hochdorf Holding announced the takeover of a 60% stake in Uckermärker Milch GmbH, which should be completed at the beginning of 2015. 26% ( blocking minority ) of Ostmilch Handels GmbH (which is the marketer of Uckermärker Milch-Produkte and holds the remaining 40% of the GmbH) and of two associated fresh food companies are also taken over. At the end of February 2020, Hochdorf sold its 60% stake to Ostmilch.
Products
In addition to (organic) butter and (organic + gene-free) quark, Uckermärker Milch GmbH also produces spiced quark and various milk powder as well as buttermilk.

criticism
In 2012, Environment Minister Franz Untersteller a . a. Uckermärker Milch GmbH as an example of companies that are exempt from the EEG surcharge , although they would not meet the requirement of being in international competition. Consumers would therefore have to pay higher electricity prices. The managing director of Uckermärker Milch GmbH defended himself against the allegations that, in his opinion, the company would meet the requirements, since a large proportion of the products are also sold internationally.
