history

Share certificate for CHF 500 in the Centralschweizerische Naturmilch-Export-Gesellschaft from July 1, 1895

The company was founded in 1895 as the 1st Central Swiss Natural Milk Export Company by 21 members of the Hochdorf cheese dairy cooperative and renamed the Swiss Milk Company in 1899 .

Around 100 years later, in 2000, the company was renamed Hochdorf Nutritec AG . In 2003 the company acquired Multiforsa AG in Steinhausen and Schweizerische Milch-Gesellschaft AG in Sulgen.

In 2006 the seven group companies were reorganized under the umbrella of Hochdorf Holding and the market presence was standardized under the Hochdorf name. Multiforsa AG, which operates in the animal health sector, was sold to Vital Holding GmbH in 2007. At the beginning of 2009, the two subsidiaries Hochdorf Nutrifood and Hochdorf Nutrition were merged.

In 2011 Hochdorf Nutrimedical AG was founded and in 2013 it was sold.

In September 2014, Hochdorf announced the takeover of a 60% stake in the east German dairy Uckermärker Milch GmbH, which should be completed at the beginning of 2015. 26% ( blocking minority ) of Ostmilch Handels GmbH (which is the marketer of Uckermärker Milch-Produkte and holds the remaining 40% of the GmbH) and of two associated fresh food companies are also taken over. The dry milk plant is to be expanded for the production of baby food for sales markets in Europe, Central and South America, for which the previous Hochdorf capacities were no longer sufficient. At the end of February 2020, Hochdorf sold its 60% stake to Ostmilch. The milk protein plant in Medeikiai Lithuania was sold in May 2018.

At the end of 2014, Hochdorf took over the German wheat germ processor Marbacher Ölmühle in Marbach am Neckar with a turnover of almost 10 million euros (2013).

At the beginning of 2019, Hochdorf took over the majority of shares (56.12 percent) in Thur Milch AG. So far, 17.65 percent of the shares were owned by Hochdorf. As a result, a third of the suppliers at Thur Milch Ring AG gave notice. In addition, until the end of 2019 Hochdorf still owned 51 percent of the Tunisian marketing organization Pharmalys Laboratories SA.
