Udo Hirsch

Udo Hirsch (born February 5, 1933 ; † October 23, 2001 ) was a German jazz pianist .

Hirsch performed in US clubs in the Rhine-Neckar region at the age of 16, sometimes in Fritz Hartschuh's bands . In the next few years he played with musicians such as Karl Berger , Dietrich Geldern , Joe Hackbarth , Hans Koller , Albert Mangelsdorff , Werner Pöhlert , Toni Rabold, Götz Wendtland and Attila Zoller . In the mid-1950s he belonged to the Two Beat Stompers , led by Werner Rehm , the most influential German traditional jazz band at the time. he also toured in modern jazz with Emil Mangelsdorff and Joki Freund . In the 1980s, Hirsch performed in the Frankfurt area and then appeared in Fritz Münzer's Swingtett . Since 1987 he has been the pianist of the RhineStream JazzBand , with whom he also recorded numerous albums.
