Joe Hackbarth (born July 21, 1931 in Belgard , Pomerania; † August 29, 2000 in Falken-Gesäß , Odenwald) was initially a jazz musician, then a painter of fantastic realism . His work, which is multifaceted in development, mainly includes oil paintings, as well as graphics and drawings.

Life

Shortly before the end of the war in 1945, Joe Hackbarth fled to the West from Pomerania, where he spent his childhood and youth, before the front was approaching. From 1949 to 1957 he worked extremely successfully as a jazz drummer in Wolfgang Lauth's group . In the mid- 1950s , Joe Hackbarth turned to painting with his first attempts in addition to his music career. Works from this period have not been preserved. At the end of the 1950s, he concentrated increasingly on the visual arts alongside jazz. From 1960 to 1965 he tried out different styles and found his own in the mid- 1960s . In 1962 he received the youth art award in Stuttgart. In 1977 Joe Hackbarth went to Ireland. There he devoted himself to the Vanitas - Still Life . In 1983 he returned to Falken-Gesäß in the Odenwald. In 1989 he was awarded the Willibald Kramm Prize in Heidelberg. In the 1990s , Joe Hackbarth turned to the design of human states of being in deeply ironic images. In 2000 he died in falcon's buttocks.
