Falken-Gesäß is a district of Oberzent in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse and has around 500 inhabitants. The hamlet Leonhardshof belongs to the district .

Geographical location

The row village Falken-Gesäß is located in the Odenwald west of Beerfelden in the Finkenbachtal . In the north, which leads the country road 3120 and to the south the country road 3119 at the place over.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1321 with the place name Valkengesezze . In addition to agriculture , linen weaving was carried out between 1700 and 1850 . This was followed by wood processing . A diamond cutting shop was also operated in the 20th century .

In 1939 Falken-Gesäß had 549 inhabitants and belonged to the district of Erbach . On October 1, 1971, Falken-Gesäß was incorporated into the city of Beerfelden , which in turn formed the city of Oberzent on January 1, 2018 with other municipalities. Until 2014 the place was a recognized resort .

Attractions

The ruins of the St. Leonhard Chapel, a former pilgrimage church , in the hamlet of Leonhardshof are worth seeing .
