Airlenbach is a district of the town of Oberzent in the Odenwald district in southern Hesse .
Geographical location
Airlenbach is located in the Odenwald about 4 km northwest of Beerfelden. The Falkengesäßerbach ( Falkengesäßerbach) , which is still called Airlenbach and drains southwards over the Finkenbach towards the Neckar, arises in the north of the village . The place is a street village along the state road 3120. Airlenbach also includes the small hamlet Liedenbach a little downhill in the Bachtal.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1366. The area had belonged to Lorsch Abbey since 773 . Although it is called Waldhufendorf , the stripe pattern of the parcels typical for this type of settlement is no longer recognizable. In 1939 Airlenbach had 163 inhabitants and belonged to the district of Erbach .
On July 1, 1971, the previously independent community Airlenbach was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Beerfelden incorporated , in turn, with other municipalities formed the city Oberzent on 1 January 2018th Airlenbach became a separate district of the new town of Oberzent.
The place belongs to the parish of Beerfelden.

At the entrance to the village is the remnant of the approximately 800 year old thick oak .
societies
The SV 1969 Airlenbach offers table tennis and gymnastics . In addition to sporting activities, the association also organizes regular theater performances and the Kerwe in Airlenbach every two years . This has been taking place for a number of years on the sports field, which has been expanded to include a beach volleyball court through association funds .
