Ober-Sensbach is a district of the city of Oberzent, newly founded on January 1, 2018, in the Odenwald district in southern Hesse .
geography
Ober-Sensbach is located on the upper reaches of the Sensbach , which starts from here in a general north-south direction. The district in western Upper Sensbach includes the highest mountains of the Odenwald district which Sensbacher height of 558 meters and in the north with 555 meters to Krähberg . The eastern part of the district takes the deeply incised and wooded, to the southeast of Itter opening towards cattle basic one.
history
The existence of the place is documented under the name Sentzenbach since 1359 and under the name Ober-Sentzelspach since 1443. Ober-Sensbach belonged to the Erbach-Fürstenauischen Zentgericht Beerfelden .
On February 1, 1971, Ober-Sensbach closed on the occasion of municipal reform in Hesse voluntarily with communities sub-Sensbach and Hebstahl to the municipality Sensbachtal together, which formed again on 1 January 2018 other municipalities, the city Oberzent.
Attractions
- The hunting lodge Krähberg in the north of the district was built from 1761 to 1771 by the Counts of Erbach-Fürstenau .
- On the road to Beerfelden, in the middle of the forest on the ridge of the Sensbacher Höhe, there is the Ober-Sensbacher Friedhof from 1619 with a chapel . Several members of the Erbach counts are buried in the cemetery.
- The tithe barn and the former mill from 1781, which temporarily served as the mayor's office, together with the neighboring property at Sensbacher Straße 19, once formed a manorial estate of the Erbach counts.
- In a defining position at the confluence of the street from Beerfelden, there is an elongated, one-story residential stable from the 18th century as a prime example of a Sensbach farmhouse in excellent state of preservation.
