geography
location
Sensbachtal was 300 to 550 meters above sea level in the southern Odenwald on an area of 33.94 square kilometers and the Geo-Naturpark Bergstrasse-Odenwald , ten kilometers from Eberbach am Neckar . The sub-locations of Sensbachtal are lined up in the valley that the Sensbach dug from north to south to the Hessian border in the red sandstone Odenwald and which is accompanied on the west side by the Sensbacher Höhe .
Neighboring communities

structure
The community consisted of the districts Hebstahl , Ober-Sensbach and Unter-Sensbach .
history
The municipality was created on February 1, 1971 on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse through the voluntary amalgamation of the municipalities of Hebstahl, Ober-Sensbach and Unter-Sensbach. The town hall, fire station , sports hall and a two-group kindergarten have been built in a central location in Unter-Sensbach .
Declining population numbers and economic reasons led to efforts to merge the communities of Hesseneck , Beerfelden , Rothenberg and Sensbachtal into one community with the name Oberzent on January 1, 2018. In referendums on March 6, 2016, the majority of the citizens of the four municipalities each voted in favor. With a voting participation of 65.2%, the majority in Sensbachtal was 71.3% of the citizens voting. The postal code 64759 for Sensbachtal became obsolete with the merger.

Since 2006, in accordance with the provisions of the Hessian Local Election Act, elections have been held according to the principles of majority voting, as there was only one nomination. For the 2011 elections, the number of community representatives to be elected was reduced from 15 to 11. Nonetheless, in 2016 the GFW / ÜWS's only list of proposals contained only 8 candidates, so that the voters had no real choice between the candidates even after the majority vote.
