Udo Mierke
Udo Mierke is a director , theater manager , dramaturge and publisher .
biography
He studied art history and philosophy at the University of Cologne . From 1990 to 1993 he realized various media projects for and with young people. In 1992 he was awarded the special prize of the EU Commission in Royan (France) for his project "Position '92" for the conception and implementation of new paths in media education.
From 1992 to 1998 he worked as a communication designer for various medium-sized business and cultural companies.
Since 1994 he has worked as a communications designer and director for the Cassiopeia Theater in Cologne, which was run by Claudia Hann in 1989 . He also worked for various independent and private theaters in the greater Cologne area between 1993 and 1996. To supplement the tour business, the standing Cassiopeia stage was founded in 1999 as a specialist venue for contemporary puppet theater and author theater in Cologne's old town. In 2004 he founded the Cassiopeia TheaterVerlag for the publication of theater-related literature. 2008 Relocation of the Cassiopeia stage, directed by him and Claudia Hann, to more spacious rooms in Cologne on the right bank of the Rhine.
As a director, Mierke has been nominated several times for the Cologne Children's and Youth Theater Prize since 2005. He received an award for Youth Theater of the Month October 2006 and NRW Children's Theater of the Month June 2009, Theater für Youngsters Schleswig Holstein 2010. In the evening program (as the only puppet play) he was nominated for Theaterzwang 2006.
