Udo R. Follert

Udo Rainer Follert (born January 3, 1943 in Bad Köstritz ) is a German church musician. From 1987 to 2008 he was regional church music director of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate .

education

As a student, Follert received his first lessons in piano , organ and cello playing . After high school, Follert trained as a cantor-catechist at the Thuringian church music school. In 1961 he moved to the West and began studying at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf with Gerhard Schwarz , Hartmut Schmidt , Jürg Baur and Almut Rößler . After the B exam in 1963, he continued his studies a. A. continued with Michael Schneider and Wolfgang Stockmeier and passed his A-exam in 1967. 1970 followed the diploma for artistic organ playing and conducting.

Musical work

From 1967 to 1984 he worked in the Evangelical Church Community in Leichlingen (Rhineland) . He then moved to Halle in Westphalia for three years . From 1987 to 2008 he was regional church music director of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate and headed the Palatinate Singing Community and Palatinate Singakademie (both newly founded) and the Corona Palatina (orchestra of the Palatinate Church) - at times also the Evangelical Youth Choir of the Palatinate - at numerous concerts and concert tours.

He initiated the founding of the International Draeseke Society and was a lecturer in score playing at the University of Music in Heidelberg.
