Udo Werner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Udo Werner (born December 15, 1918 as Rudolf Eyrich ; † December 22, 1990 in Leverkusen ) was a German presenter and entertainer who hosted the show Udo Werner's talent test in Cologne for 19 years .

Werner began his career as a conférencier and carried out public "talent tests" in dance salons and variety shows at an early stage , where unknown singers could present themselves in front of an audience.

From 1971 he presented Udo Werner's talent test under the motto “A chance for young talents” at the Tanzbrunnen in Cologne's Rheinpark . The show, which took place fortnightly in the summer season, was hosted by Werner until 1990 and was notorious for its merciless and gleeful audience, the less convincing "talents" with roars, foul shouts, the display of cardboard signs with spiteful inscriptions and even throwing eggs from the Used to chase the stage, Werner accompanying this activity benevolently but fairly.

Capable artists could definitely stand up to the judgment of the masses, and stars like Mary Roos , Ingrid Peters or Nicole can look back on successful appearances in Udo Werner's talent test at the beginning of their careers.

The successor Udo Werner, whose show continued the concept for another 25 years as Linus' talent test , had once performed with him.

In the documentary “Talentprobe” in 1979 , Peter Goedel portrayed Udo Werner, his audience and some of the talented people who performed.
