The Overland work Jagstkreis AG (UJAG), based in Ellwangen (Jagst) was a power company in Baden-Wuerttemberg , which existed from 1913 to 1999. In 1999 the merger with Mittelschwäbische Überlandzentrale AG (MÜAG) took place to form EnBW Ostwürttemberg DonauRies AG ( EnBW ODR ) .

history

Electricity found its way into the eastern part of Württemberg and the neighboring Bavarian Ries in 1912, when the Berlin Bergmann Group built an overland plant with its own coal-fired power plant in Ellwangen. On October 2, 1913, the Rheinelektra company from Mannheim took over the factory from the ailing Bergmann Group and transferred the power supply to the newly founded Ueberlandwerk Jagstkreis AG . The Stromverband Jagstkreis (STROJAG) held half of the UJAG.

As a result of the great demand for electricity, the steam power plant in Ellwangen quickly reached its capacity limit. Therefore, UJAG was connected to the high-voltage network of Württembergische Landes-Elektrizitäts AG, which soon supplied a large part of the energy. As a result, the Ellwang power station lost its importance, was taken off the grid in 1956 and shut down in 1960.

In the course of the centralization of the electricity industry in Württemberg, the newly founded Energie -versorgung Schwaben AG took over the 50 percent stake in STROJAG and a further 25 percent from Rheinelektra in 1940. With the takeover of the remaining 25 percent from Rheinelektra, UJAG became a 100 percent EVS subsidiary.

Since UJAG also supplied Bavarian areas, it was never integrated into the company like the rest of the EVS operations administration, but always managed as an independent company.

The existence of UJAG ended with the merger with the Mittelschwäbische Überlandzentrale (MÜAG) to form EnBW Ostwuerttemberg DonauRies AG (ODR), which was resolved retrospectively at the beginning of the year .
