Ugly Duckling (Eng. "Ugly duckling") is an American hip-hop group and was founded in 1993 with its current line-up in Long Beach ( California ). It stands for a style that is more oriented towards old school hip-hop and influenced by jazz . Its name, based on Hans Christian Andersen's art fairy tale The Ugly Duckling , is explained by the fact that when it was founded, gangsta rap and G-funk were especially popular, with whose attitudes one did not want to identify, so the band members accordingly perceived as an outsider.
