Ugo Legrand (born January 22, 1989 in Mont-Saint-Aignan ) is a former French judoka . He won an Olympic bronze medal in 2012.

Athletic career

The 1.75 m tall Legrand competed in a half-light weight of up to 66 kilograms until 2008. In 2005 he won a bronze medal at the European Cadet Championships and in 2006 at the U20 European Championships. In 2007 he reached the final of the U20 European Championships and received the silver medal. In 2008 he won both the U20 European Championships and the U20 World Championships.

In 2009 Legrand moved up to the lightweight of 73 kilograms. In 2009 he won the title at the U23 European Championships. The Frenchman won his first adult medal at the European Judo Championships in 2010 , when he lost to Hungary's Attila Ungvári in the quarter-finals , but then received the bronze medal after two wins in the round of hope. At the Judo World Championships in 2010 , he finished seventh. In 2011 the World Championships took place in Paris. In the semifinals Legrand lost to the Dutchman Dex Elmont , but then won the battle for bronze against the Kazakhs Rinat Ibragimow .

At the European Championships in 2012 in Chelyabinsk Legrand reached the final with four wins, which he won against the Ukrainian Volodymyr Soroka . At the Olympic Games in London he reached the quarterfinals with two wins, which he lost to Dex Elmont. In the round of hope he defeated the Tajik Rassul Boqijew and the South Korean Wang Ki-chun and received a bronze medal. In 2013 Legrand reached the final of the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, where he lost to the Japanese Shōhei Ōno . Legrand won his last international medals at the 2014 European Championships in Montpellier. With four wins he reached the final and then lost to Dex Elmont. With the French team he received the bronze medal in the team competition. At the end of 2015, Ugo Legrand ended his career as a competitive athlete.
