Ugo Monye (born April 13, 1983 in London ) is an English rugby union player who is used in the positions outside three quarters and inside three quarters . He is active for the English national team and the Harlequins .
As a youth, Monye was considered a great talent on the sprint courses of athletics, but decided to play rugby. He first ran in November 2002 in the English league for the Harlequins. Due to promising performances he was accepted into the ranks of the England Saxons , the reserve of the national team, with whom he was able to win the Churchill Cup twice . In 2003 he was also used in the national team of seven and helped the selection to win the traditional Hong Kong Sevens tournament.
Monye made his debut for the men's national team in November 2008 in a 39-13 victory over the Pacific Islanders . Due to a back injury, he dropped out for the first three games of the Six Nations in 2009 . He returned in the game against France and made his first attempt for England in the final game of the tournament against Scotland . After only six international appearances, he was nominated for the tour of the British and Irish Lions to South Africa . He was used in the first and last game of the series, where he succeeded in an attempt.
