Ulf-Daniel Ehlers (* 1971 in Hameln ) is a German education researcher and professor for education management and lifelong learning at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University .

After studying English , social sciences and educational sciences at Bielefeld University, he received his doctorate in the field of educational technologies ( summa cum laude ) in 2003 and his habilitation with a thesis on quality and education at the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2008, in which he a introduced a new model of quality culture. From 2011 to 2017, Ehlers was Vice President of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, Stuttgart and was responsible for quality and teaching on the board. He was also a private lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen, professor for media didactics at the University of Augsburg and for two years Associate Professor at the Graduate School for Management and Technology at the University of Maryland, College Park (USA). He has given lectures in 45 countries and published around 150 scientific publications that have been scientifically cited around 3,000 times. Ehlers has traveled to countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania and advises national and international organizations such as the United Nations and the European Commission on educational issues . From 2011 to 2014 he was President of the European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning based in Brussels and on the board of the Society for Media in Science eV, which he chaired from 2010 to 2012. In addition, he is the founder and editor-in-chief of the "International Journal for Quality and Innovation in Learning", a member of other editorial boards and is involved in specialist committees.

His research focuses on the quality of education, learning innovation, competence research and lifelong learning. He is the founder of the model of quality from the learner's point of view, developer of the concept of Open Educational Practices and has worked as a keynote speaker at conferences. He is the author of books and publications in specialist journals as well as book chapters.
