Ulf Lundkvist

Ulf Lundkvist (* 1952 ) is a Swedish artist , draftsman and painter .

Ulf Lundkvist describes the hidden and forgotten sides of his homeland Sweden , from the poor rural population of the 18th century to closed train stations and dry petrol pumps to the motorway junctions and shopping centers of today. His main fascination is between the 1940s and 1960s, and time stands still in his works.

Lundkvist works with various means of graphic design, but is mainly known for his comic series . Lundkvist's drawing style is sloppy and scrappy, with the inclusion of ink stains, thumbprints and the like. Many of his works have been published in Galago magazine and in book form in Tago-Förlag.

Lundkvist is best known to a wider audience for his series Assar , which has been published daily in Dagens Nyheter , Sweden's largest daily newspaper, since 1990 .

Assar

Assar is a cooked sausage that flees from the safe end in a suburban sausage stand and builds a new life for itself in the backwater of Nollberga. There Assar appears mainly as a narrator and critical observer, who presents the whole spectrum of the anachronistic population and describes the bizarre events.

Tyrone is the village idiot who stoically endures the ridicule of everyone. Nobody knows that he swore the Kohlrabie oath at his parents' grave and is now Nollberga's protector Bimbo. When the thoroughly evil Razor tyrannizes the village, Tyrone slips into his bimbo costume and goes on the hunt. Razor, the hairy and eternally coarse cursing creature, has to travel with Rymd-Börje in his rocket as a punishment and play with Börje Schwarzer Peter around the clock.

Nollberga is a kingdom. King Royne is a popular ruler who was temporarily married to Pamela Anderson.

Nollberga's greatest villain is Baron Bosse. It has already brought a lot of mischief to the district, starting with the introduction of "botong" as an all-round material (building material, food, clothing, etc.), to importing vampires who visit Nollberga as tourists with an appetite, to building a harbor district in which dubious figures hang around. Ultimately, the whole of Nollberga has to be evacuated by planing the topsoil and rolling it up to the moon behind Rymd-Börje's rocket. The story of Nollberga continues there from now on - but under a gigantic cheese dome.

Other prominent personalities of Nollberga are the beautiful Flora Andersson, daughter of the businessman; Elof Öman, media magnate; Viggo Filtner, sect leader (Viggo temporarily represented the king, but only used the title of king to gain from the Eurovision Festival); Explorer Johansson, Fisk-Gunnar, the Warnuts, the Bautastenarna, along with various talking chanterelles who look down with contempt on the Nollberga population.
