Uli Kazmaier

Uli Kazmaier (born January 17, 1960 in Bönnigheim ) is a German chemist. Since 2001 he has been Professor of Organic Chemistry at Saarland University .

Life

Uli Kazmaier studied chemistry in Stuttgart from 1979 to 1986 and received his doctorate in 1989 in the field of natural product synthesis under Ulrich Schmidt . This was followed by research stays at the University of Marburg with Manfred Reetz and at Stanford University with Barry M. Trost .

In 1992 he started his own research in the field of amino acid and peptide chemistry at the University of Heidelberg in the environment of Günter Helmchen . In 1997 he completed his habilitation in Heidelberg. After working as a private lecturer in Heidelberg between 1998 and 2001 and taking over a professorship at the University of Karlsruhe for Herbert Waldmann , he was offered a position at the University of Saarland. Since 2001 he has held the chair for organic chemistry there. He turned down calls to the Universities of Bayreuth (2000) and Heidelberg (2006).

Scientific work

Uli Kazmaier's research focuses on the one hand on the development of new synthesis methods and the synthesis of natural and active ingredients. In addition to organometallic reactions, primarily catalytic processes are used here.

Publications

Uli Kazmaier has published over 200 scientific publications, book chapters, books and magazine articles.
