Ulises Vásquez Hernández (* 1892 in Santiago de Chile , † 1949 there ) was a Chilean painter .

Vásquez studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes with Pedro Lira , Alberto Valenzuela Llanos and Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor and was one of the painters of the Generacion del Trece . In particular, he was on friendly terms with Abelardo Bustamante , Fernando Meza and Ezequiel Plaza . He mainly emerged as a landscape painter. Suffering from financial hardship all his life, he had to take on unskilled labor to support himself and his family, so that he was forgotten as an artist. It was not until 1953 that the Ministry of Education dedicated a solo exhibition to him in Santiago. The Pinacoteca of the Universidad de Concepción owns his painting Viento Puelche , the Pinacoteca of the Banco de Chile the painting Árbol en el Campo .
