Ulrich Biel (politician, 1947)

Ulrich Eckhard Kurt Robert Biel (born October 1, 1947 in Peine ) is a German SPD politician . From 1982 to 2008 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life and work

After attending primary school , Ulrich Biel trained as a building fitter. He then completed his military service in the Bundeswehr for 18 months . In 1975 he passed his trainer examination and in 1978 his industrial foreman examination. From 1974 to 1982 he worked as a master apprentice in the vocational training center at Stahlwerke Peine + Salzgitter AG in Peine. This occupation has been suspended since his work in Parliament in 1982. Biel is a member of the Social Association Germany , IG Metall and TSV Education. He is married and has two children.

politics

Biel has been a member of the SPD since 1970. He became chairman of the SPD city association Peine and was councilor in 1981 and mayor of the city of Peine between 1991 and 2001 .

From June 21, 1982 to June 20, 2008, Biel was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the constituency of Peine (5). Between June 23, 1982 and June 20, 1994 he was chairman of the mine safety subcommittee of the Committee on Economics and Transport. From March 2003 to 2008 he was Vice President of the Lower Saxony State Parliament.

In 2015 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. Ulrich Biel is a member and chairman of the Lower Saxony Parliamentary Association.
