Ulrich Gröner

Ulrich Gröner (born April 14, 1957 in Ulm ) is a German violinist and university professor.

Life

Ulrich Gröner studied with Jean Laurent and Kurt Guntner in Munich and in Max Rostal's master class in Cologne. He also attended master classes with Semjon Snitkovsky in Moscow. With the Beethoven Trio Ravensburg he has won the international competitions in Colmar, Florence and Trapani. Gröner is a scholarship holder and prize winner of the German Music Competition and is a recorder at JPC with works by Rihm, Shostakowitsch, Schumann, Volkmann, Spohr, Marschner and ETA Hoffmann. Gröner is the artistic director of the Wolfegger Winter Music and Music Festival in the Ravensburg Schwörsaal . Between 1987 and 2002 Gröner was concert master of Ensemble 13 Baden-Baden. From 2003 to 2007 Gröner was a founding member of the Heine Quartet. A first CD by the Heine Quartet with works by Brahms and Janáček was selected as recording of the month in March 2007 in Strad magazine. Since 1993 Gröner has been professor for violin at the Zurich University of the Arts .
