Ulrich Panne (born April 17, 1964 in Hamm ) is a German chemist . He has been President of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin since 2013 .

Career

After graduating from high school in Hamm in 1983, Panne studied chemistry at the University of Dortmund and UCL London . He has received scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and the Chemical Industry Fund, among others . His dissertation followed at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In 1993/94 he did a post-doc at the European Joint Research Center Ispra (Italy). At the Institute for Water Chemistry at TUM, work on the development of spectrochemical methods for environmental and process analysis followed , completing the habilitation in analytical chemistry in 2001.

After declining an offer at the University of Leipzig , he took over the professorship for “Instrumental Analytical Chemistry” at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2004 and at the same time headed the “Analytical Chemistry” department; Reference materials "from the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). Since 2013 he has been President of BAM and honorary professor at Humboldt University.

Panne has also been the spokesman for the Graduate School SALSA, School of Analytical Sciences Adlershof, as part of the German Excellence Initiative since 2012 .
