Ulrich Rüß

Ulrich Rüß (born December 12, 1943 in Braunschweig ) is a Lutheran theologian and president of the International Conference of Confessing Communities (IKBG / ICN) and chairman of the Conference of Confessing Communities in the Evangelical Churches in Germany , the umbrella organization of conservative Protestants in the EKD.

Live and act

Rüß studied religious education and theology and was ordained in Schleswig Cathedral in 1970 , after which he was pastor for 12 years in the Evangelical Lutheran parish Harrislee near Flensburg (see Reconciliation Church (Harrislee) ). From 1982 to 2009 he was pastor of the St. Johannis Church in Hamburg-Eppendorf .

Rüss belongs to the North Elbe church collection on the Bible and Confession . and is considered to be the representative of the conservatives in the North Elbe Evangelical Lutheran Church . In his function as Federal Chairman of the Conservative Christians in Germany, he also takes a position on current religious and political situations. Rüß is head of the "Islamic Working Group" of the German Evangelical Alliance .

Private

Rüß did not marry Isabel Fürstenhoff, director of an advertising agency, until 2005, at the age of 62, whom he met on the occasion of her re-entry into the Protestant church. The two were married by his brother Christian Rüß, who was also a Lutheran pastor at the Hamburg Michel . His twin brother Andreas Rüß, pastor on Rügen , led the liturgy of the wedding service.
