Ecclesiastical collection around the Bible and Confession

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Church Collection of the Bible and Confession is a conservative Lutheran association that is active in various regional churches of the EKD . The organization is based on the Bible and the Lutheran Confessions . She sees the Evangelical Lutheran regional churches in danger of “moving further and further away from them and sacrificing their elementary beliefs to the zeitgeist ”. The EKD sees the collection as part of the confessional movement .

Head of the Church collection in Bavaria was 23 years of the 2014 deceased son of Walter Künneth , Friedrich-Wilhelm Künneth .

Position and classification

The association is referred to as a fringe group in the church-independent press. She campaigned against criticism of infant baptism in the 1960s . The collection is of the opinion that there is no longer a binding understanding of the Bible in the Evangelical Church in Germany. The EKD Parish Service Act , which enables homosexual clergy to live together in the rectory, is cited as an example . The movement does not share this position. An allegedly insufficient Christ orientation of the Evangelical Church is criticized, for example in the questioning of the message of the cross and resurrection of Jesus . The group opposes the “ Bible in Just Language ” and in this context called for the resignation of Lübeck's Bishop Bärbel Wartenberg-Potter .

Walter Künneth Prize

The Bavarian branch of the association awards the Walter Künneth Prize . It goes to personalities and works who “have made a biblical contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the Christian Reformation heritage in theology, preaching, diakonia and society”.
