Joachim Heubach

Joachim Heubach (born November 20, 1925 in Berlin , † October 29, 2000 in Eutin -Fissau) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian and regional bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schaumburg-Lippe .

Life

Heubach grew up in Wetzlar and Hamburg-Altona . He studied theology and philosophy in Erlangen , Hamburg , Goettingen and Kiel and received his doctorate in 1950 in Kiel at Heinrich Rendtorff Dr. theol. In 1954 he completed his habilitation in practical theology at the University of Kiel .

Heubach received his first post as a parish pastor in Krusendorf . In 1961 he became pastor at the Nikolaikirche in Kiel , in 1963 director of studies at the Preetz seminary and at the same time scientific assistant at the educational science seminar in Hamburg. In 1970 Heubach was appointed the last state superintendent of the Lauenburg district of the Schleswig-Holstein regional church . As a result, he was president of the Luther Academy in Ratzeburg until 1979 , chairman of the Lutheran Liturgical Conference of Germany (as successor to Christhard Mahrenholz ), member of the theological committee of the VELKD, member of the board of the Evangelical Biblical Works, the administrative board of the German Biblical Foundation and federal chairman of the Church Collection Bible and Confession .

On October 1, 1979, he succeeded Johann Gottfried Maltusch as regional bishop in Bückeburg. From 1980 to 1996 he was the representative of the EKD Council for pastoral care in the Federal Border Guard. In 1991 he retired.

The church musician Martin Heubach is his son.
