Ulrich Strothjohann (* 1954 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück ) is a German artist .

Life

Strothjohann studied at the Berlin University of the Arts . He was Martin Kippenberger's assistant : from 1989 to 1991 Strothjohann produced works almost independently for the exhibitions “VIT 89”, “Haus Schloss Case” in 1990 in New York, “Martin Kippenberger” in 1990, “New York (Put Your eye in Your Mouth) ”, 1991 in San Francisco and“ Tiefes Kehlchen ”in Vienna. Carpenter even goes so far as to say that the sculptor Martin Kippenberger was Ulrich Strothjohann during these two years. This assistant relationship ended when Strothjohann's ideas were exhausted and became predictable and therefore uninteresting for Kippenberger. This meant that the functionalization of Strohjohann by Kippenberger had been used up and the “Kippenberger Assistant” model had come to an end.
