Positions

Thielemann sees himself as critical of capitalism , advocates an integrative approach to business ethics and is of the opinion that "a market elevated to a principle amounts to an 'ethics' of the law of the strong."

Thielemann became known to a wider public in 2009 when he told the Finance Committee of the German Bundestag that there was no awareness of wrongdoing in Switzerland with regard to the tax treatment of non- resident taxpayers. As a result, he was heavily criticized in the media and politics, but also by his employer. When the presidium of the Institute for Business Ethics had to be filled, Thielemann was not shortlisted as Vice Director.
