Ulrik Schmidt (born August 19, 1962 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish curler and trainer.

Career as a player

Schmidt began his international career as a skip of the Swedish men's team at the 1984 Junior World Championships , in which the Danes came in ninth place. In 1987 he played for the first time at a European Championship . Up until 2009 he had taken part in this competition a total of 13 times. As Skip , he won the silver medal in 1997, 1999 and 2000 and the bronze medal in 2003. He played his first world championship in 1997. By 2010 he was there seven times; the best placings were a fifth place in 2000, 2002 and 2010, each as a skip .

Schmidt led the Danish men's team as Skip at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . Together with Third Lasse Lavrsen , Second Brian Hansen , Lead Carsten Svensgård and Alternate Frants Guflermit , he finished in 7th place. Schmidt played again as Skip at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in Team Denmark with Third Johnny Frederiksen , Second Bo Jensen , Lead Lars Vilandt and Alternate Mikkel Poulsen . The team finished ninth.

In 2017 he played for the first time at the Senior World Cup and, as in 2018, came in fifth.

Trainer

As a coach Schmidt was active for the first time in 2007 at the European men's championship; the team he supervised came third. In 2013 and 2014 he coached the Danish juniors who won the European Championship in 2013. He has been in charge of the women's national team since 2014. His greatest successes with this team were fourth place at the 2014 European Championships and qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics .
