Ulytau is a folk metal trio from Kazakhstan . Their music combines instruments such as the violin and the traditional dombra with electric guitars .
The band name Ulytau comes from Kazakh and means "big mountain".
history
Ulytau was founded in 2001 by producer Kydyrali Bolmanov with the idea of combining Western and Far Eastern music. Pieces by Qurmanghazy , Antonio Vivaldi , Niccolò Paganini and Johann Sebastian Bach will be remixed with electronic and classical instruments. The group has already made various appearances worldwide, for example in Germany , England , Scotland , Poland , USA , Turkey , China , Japan and Russia . The band was awarded the "Golden Disc" in 2001 for their song "Aday", which was based on a composition by Sagyrbayuly. Her debut album Jumyr-Kylysh was released in 2006. In 2009 the album was also released in Germany under the name Two Warriors .
