Ulytau is a folk metal trio from Kazakhstan . Their music combines instruments such as the violin and the traditional dombra with electric guitars .

The band name Ulytau comes from Kazakh and means "big mountain".

history

Ulytau was founded in 2001 by producer Kydyrali Bolmanov with the idea of ​​combining Western and Far Eastern music. Pieces by Qurmanghazy , Antonio Vivaldi , Niccolò Paganini and Johann Sebastian Bach will be remixed with electronic and classical instruments. The group has already made various appearances worldwide, for example in Germany , England , Scotland , Poland , USA , Turkey , China , Japan and Russia . The band was awarded the "Golden Disc" in 2001 for their song "Aday", which was based on a composition by Sagyrbayuly. Her debut album Jumyr-Kylysh was released in 2006. In 2009 the album was also released in Germany under the name Two Warriors .
